Pastor Dixon Celebrates 50 years
Pastor Dixon Celebrates 50 years
Pastor Dixon grew up in Laurel Springs in Alleghany County. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior in 1968 and began attending Tabernacle Baptist Church in Hickory. Upon the recommendation of Pastor Settle, Dixon and his family moved to Chattanooga, TN, where he graduated from Tennessee Temple Bible College in 1972. He returned to this area and worked on the radio for Hickory’s WHKY-FM, Gospel One station in the 70s/early 80s.

Dixon’s first message as Pastor at Calvary was on Wednesday, January 1, 1975 from Hebrews 11:1-2. Church member Anne Harwell recalls, “He came to a small group of believers of varying ages who were hungry for both the milk and the meat of God’s Word, and he was ready to teach it and preach it."
For 50 years, our church and community have been richly blessed through Pastor Dixon’s selfless love and faithful preaching of God’s Holy Word.
